Shaun is an author and executive editor for Checkpoint and has been with Thomson Reuters for over five years. His articles can be found in PPC’s Practitioners Tax Action Bulletins and Quickfinder’s Tax Tips Newsletter.

Before joining Thomson Reuters, Shaun spent over ten years with national accounting firms. Early in his career, Shaun led research and development tax incentive studies for Fortune 500 companies. Following this, he specialized in tax due diligence, corporate restructurings, and international tax compliance and planning. Shaun also has extensive experience in advising small businesses and closely held companies on various tax matters.

Shaun received a J.D. from Texas Tech University School of Law and an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law. In 2018, he was named a “tax expert to watch” by Accounting Today.

Daniel Winnick joined the KPMG Washington National Tax practice in March 2023 as a principal in its International Tax group. Before joining KPMG, he worked as tax counsel for the House Committee on Ways & Means and as an attorney-advisor with the Treasury Department Office of Tax Policy. Based in New York, Dan focuses on advising multinational businesses, investment funds, and financial institutions on global and U.S. tax matters related to their cross-border investments and activities.
